Computer Appreciation Training Series

National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) flagged off a 3 week rolling Computer appreciation training on the 14th Day of September, 2020. The training in its initial batch had eight (8) participants with comprises of five (5) members of staff and three (3) participants from the institute immediate environment. The Training was supported by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) who graciously donated the Laptops used for the training.

 

The training, which is purely practical allow every participant had a laptop to practice the concepts and modules taught. The Modules taught ranges from Basic Computer Operations to Discipline Tailored ICT. Basic Computer operations deals with the day to day use of Computing systems. From Booting a system to shutting it down, making use of the mouse and keyboard, understanding and recognising the different features of a computer thereby increasing knowledge and awareness while making purchase decisions. Also Microsft office applications were not left out in the training.

On 14th September at 10:00AM the opening ceremony for the Initial batch of participants was held at the Information and Technology Unit (ICT Unit) of NIHORT. The Executive Director NIHORT, DR A. A. Olaniyan urged the participants to make good use of such a beautiful opportunity, he also thanked NCC for being an important partner in ensuring that such a training could come to fruition.

The closing Ceremony and certificate presentation was held on the 2nd October, 2020. The Executive Director thanked the facilitators, Mr A. M. Dada, Mr A. O. Kosoko-King and Mr J. I. Okocha for a job well done. The participants attested to the enormous knowledge transfer that occurred in the cause of the training and promised to be willing marketers of the great opportunity the training affords participants.

The next batch is scheduled to begin 2nd November, 2020.
