Abstract

Eight tomato accessions consisting of four introduced hybrids and four lines were evaluated for their yield and other agronomic characters. The trial was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replicates. Seeds were shown in the tray for three weeks after which seedling were transplanted to 1m x 4m beds each with a spacing of 80cm x 50cm between and within the rows. Results showed that Toma 74 had the biggest and heaviest fruit weight. The highest number but the least fruit weight as recorded in accession AR. It was observed that the exotic tomato hybrid have bigger but less number of fruits than local ones.
