Abstract

The effect of different plant population densities (47,620; 35,710 and 23,810 plants/ha) were evaluated on the growth and yield of Capsicum annuum L. “Rodo” in Southern Western Nigeria. The aim and was to optimize benefits derived from land by plants which is the major manufacturing house of fruit vegetables cultivation in developing countries. The results obtained showed that differences in population densities had no significant influences in population densities had no significant influence on parameters evaluated per plant. However, the total fruit fresh weight per hectare during the thirteen to sixteen weeks of harvesting were 5.66; 2.40; 1.87 and 1.70 t/ha for population densities of 47,620; 35, 710; 28, 750 and 23, 810 plants/ha respectively. Plant density of 47, 620/ha (0.7m x 0.30m spacing) is therefore recommended
