Abstract

Different rates (concentrations of Decis for the control of Epilachna leaf bettle and cutworms on Fadama grown garden egg were investigated at the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT), Mbato, Okigwe (Imo State) in South Eastern Zone of Nigeria during the dry season of October 1996 to February, 1997.
Result application of decis at the rate of 30mls and 40mls/10 litres of water the most effective in controlling Ephilachna hirta and Spodoptera littoralis on 10mls/10 litre garden egg. Damage to fruits and leaves were the lowest and fruit yield were the highest at the these rates. However, at the lowest rate of the pyre throid was equally effect in reducing pest number and damage when compared with the control.
