Spacings and N.P.K: fertilizer levels were tried on Roselle at NIHORT, Bagauda (11o 33,N and 8o 23’E) during the 1997 cropping season. The three spacing comprised 0.25m; 0.50m and 0.75 while the various fertilizer levels consisted of 0, 50kg, 100kg, 150kg and 200kg har-1 or 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80g per plot (4m2). The land was harrowed and later righed with a disc-ridger at a spacing of 0.75m apart. The result shows that plant height (cm) at both 8 and 16 WAP was significantly induced by fertilizer at 100kg ha-1 and at 0.50m spacing. Overall plant population as well as the population based on the colour of Roselle as red and white was significantly higher at 0.25m spacing. Leaf production increased linearly with increased among treatments; however, calyx number was highest at 75cm x 200kg ha-1 and lowest at 75cm x 200kg ha-1 the total biomass increased up to 150kg ha-1.
